I save rings from beverages that come in one gallon jugs (milk, etc.) instead of purchasing rings. They work great...and there are lots of beverages that come in other size bottles with same diameter opening (sports drinks, plastic quarts of cream, etc.). Some friends save them for me, too. To scale the pattern do 30 sc sts. This will generate 5 snowflake points. Since snowflakes are symmetrical this looked goofy to me, so I modified the pattern a bit to make a 5-pointed star.
Round 1) With Yellow, join with a sl st around 1.5” plastic ring, ch 1, 30 sc around ring, join with a sl st to beg sc. Do not turn. (30 sc)
Round 2) Ch 1, sc in same st and sc in next 5 sts, sl st in 6th st, * sc in next 5 sts, sl in 6th st * repeat from * to * around, join with a sl st to beg sc. Do Not turn. (30 sts)
Pattern Note for Round 3: To make picot (mp): Ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook.
Round 3) Ch 1, sc in same st, sk next 2 sts, in next st: dc, dc, dc, mp, dc, dc, dc (1st star point made), sk next 2 sts, *sl st in next st, sk next 2 sts, in next st: dc, dc, dc, mp, dc, dc, dc (next star point made), sk next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * around, join with a sl st to beg sc. End off, weave in ends. Each star point will contain 6 dc's and 1 picot. (5 star points, 5 sl sts)

In a nut shell, this pattern adaptation "smooths out" the snowflake points to look more like triangles, or star points.Spottyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07612450916418258382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4205568826644331353.post-10837152979389923512016-12-02T15:00:16.019-05:002016-12-02T15:00:16.019-05:00Milk jug rings also work perfectly for this projec...Milk jug rings also work perfectly for this project.
